Are you about to start university, already studying, or recently graduated?
Do you want to become a more confident presenter to help with your studies or your first job?
Fear-less Public Speaking is teaming up with Speak Confidently to offer an intensive public speaking programme for young adults age 18 and over.
Our group programme (no more than 18 students with a ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students) will teach you how to manage your nerves, prepare and deliver a great presentation, and respond confidently when you have to think on your feet. All of this will be done in a fun and interactive way!
The programme is suitable for nervous speakers and for those who already enjoy speaking but would like to refine their skills.
This course is an investment in your future. In 2015, Victoria University of Wellington carried out an Employability Skills survey to find out what employers are looking for in their graduates. The survey found that the number one ‘soft skill’ that employers want from graduates is work ethic while verbal communication skills are number two read more.
Improving your presentation skills will also help with your studies. Giving seminars or presenting group and individual projects has become an important part of assessment for many tertiary courses.

The programme will be led by Catherine Syme and associates from Speak Confidently, Gaye Stratton and Tim Horne.
Gaye, one of the founders of Speak Confidently, is a human resources practitioner and trainer with considerable experience gained in a variety of manufacturing, retail, IT and service industries both at a strategic and practical implementation level. Recently Gaye has leveraged her extensive human resources experience, coaching capabilities and understanding of the market, to coach individuals through career transition processes, ensuring successful outcomes for candidates.
An experienced presenter, Toastmaster and Executive Member of the successful Speechcraft Club, Gaye works with individuals helping them to take away the terror in talking before an audience, increasing their self- confidence benefitting them in both career and personal life.
Tim is the other founder of Speak Confidently. He enjoys helping people work through their initial anxiety and develop their confidence in speaking. He is an experienced Toastmaster who has won the national Impromptu Speech Contest and has been a finalist in the Humorous speaking contest. His background is in teaching and he has taught in both primary schools and high schools in New Zealand and Japan.
